Our Work
Books and Blankets October Event
In October 2024 in conjunction with Pinecrest Academy South Charter School, The Love People Project, and Nicklaus Children's Hospital, HGKL raised over 500 books and 300 blankets that were donated to the cardiac intensive care unit. We also supplied the nurses with an Italian meal to show our appreciation for what they do.

Heart Month and Valentines Event
In honor of heart month in February of 2025 we prepared 35 packages that included books, bears and toys that were donated to the cardiac intensive care unit at Nicklaus Children’s hospital for Valentines Day.

Heart Walk at the CICU
In collaboration with Pinecrest Academy South Charter School and Nicklaus Children's Hospital, the foundation sponsored a “Heart Walk” at the end of February 2025, for the patients of the cardiac unit. Needed items from the nurses’ wish list were collected and donated for the event that were later distributed to the patients and families. Additionally, we fundraised and donated 25 meal gift cards each valued at $25 for the families admitted at the cardiac unit.

Superheroes of Love Walk
On Saturday, April 12, 2025 HGKL teamed up with The Love People Project and MPS Superhero Foundation and sponsored a booth at the Superheroes of Love Walk at Zoo Miami. Our booth raised funds to support families and children affected by MPS (Mucopolysaccharidoses) which can cause heart valve and cardiac abnormalities. It was a beautiful day spent sharing information about Kim and our foundation with others. We had raffles and games for the kids to participate and win prizes in. Most importantly, we shared Kim’s strength and kindness with others. With over 300 participants the Superheroes of Love walk was able to raise over $8,000 for families and children in need.

About Us

Our foundation was created in 2024 in honor of beloved fifth grade teacher, Ms. Kimberly Olano. It is run by her friends Jenny and Edgar as well her mom, Connie and dad, Jim. Kim lived with ARVD (arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia) and lost her life due to complications that arose from a procedure. Heart disease in children often goes unnoticed or misunderstood, but its impact is profound. Every year, thousands of young lives are touched by conditions such as congenital heart defects, cardiomyopathies, and other serious cardiovascular disorders. These children and their families face overwhelming emotional, physical, and financial challenges as they navigate diagnosis, treatment,
and long-term care.
At Kim’s Legacy we strive to be a beacon of hope for these families. We aim to:Provide financial and emotional support for children and their families.Raise awareness about childhood heart disease through campaigns, educational programs, and community service projects.Donate to research to find innovative treatments and potential cures for heart disease in children.Create community connections with families, local hospitals, and other non profits.
